# Platewise Privacy Policy

Platewise recognizes food in photos and estimates calorie and nutrition information for personal reference only. It is not a medical, dietary diagnosis or professional nutrition consulting product.

[At a glance]

· We do not build a food image database, user profile library, or persistent biometric/face recognition service.

· Photos you select stay on your device until you start food analysis.

· Cloud AI: only the photo you pick, only for one analysis request, only after in-app consent.

· We do not use your food photos for ad profiles, unrelated model training, or sell your data.

· Calorie and nutrition estimations are for reference only — not a substitute for professional dietary advice.

[Information we process]

1. Photos & camera (you provide)

With your permission you may select a photo (system picker) or use the camera. We use that image only to:

(1) Pre-check image clarity on your device;

(2) Show an on-device preview;

(3) Send for one-time cloud food recognition and nutrition analysis if you explicitly consent.

We do not read your entire photo library.

2. Analysis results & archive

Food recognition results, calorie estimations and related records may be stored on your device in the in-app archive. You can delete them anytime. Saving results or original photos writes to your Photo Library only when you tap Save.

3. Settings

Language, theme and onboarding flags are stored on device. Daily cloud request limits are stored on device with integrity checks — not used to track or identify you across apps.

4. Network

We check connectivity to offer cloud food analysis. Not used for user tracking.

[Cloud image processing]

When you tap Continue on the AI processing consent screen:

· What is sent: your selected food photo (HTTPS) and optional text notes about the meal.

· Providers: Baidu AI Image Recognition ([https://ai.baidu.com/tech/imagerecognition](https://ai.baidu.com/tech/imagerecognition)) and OpenAI GPT models.

· Purpose: identify food items and calculate estimated calorie and nutrition information for your requested meal analysis.

· Not used for: identity recognition, authentication, or building persistent user image profiles.

Retention: We do not maintain a server-side library of your food photos. Provider data retention follows their respective terms. Contact [email protected] for request-specific questions.

[What we do not do]

· Sell personal data.

· Run facial recognition or user identity identification.

· Use your food photos to train unrelated advertising models (see in-app consent).

· Present calorie/nutrition estimates as medically accurate or professional dietary diagnosis.

[Other]

Children: Not directed at users under 13 (or local minimum age). We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information.

International transfers: Cloud processing may occur outside your country. We use HTTPS and vendor terms aligned with this policy.

Security: HTTPS for cloud requests, allowlisted endpoints, local archive storage. Use a device passcode and keep iOS updated.

Your choices:

· Revoke camera/photo access in Settings → Platewise;

· Decline cloud consent;

· Delete archive items in the app; remove saved images from Photos manually;

· Replay onboarding or reset notices from Profile where available.

[Third parties]

· Apple (iOS): photo picker, camera, local storage APIs.

· Baidu AI: food image recognition after your consent.

· OpenAI GPT: nutrition reasoning and calorie estimation after your consent.

This version of the app does not include third-party advertising SDKs.

[Changes & contact]

We may update this policy with a new effective date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
